I had my first day at work, it's been 7 years since I last had a job. Since August 1, 2002 in fact. 9 years since my last retail job. I went in to fill out employment paperwork on Wednesday and was scheduled to work Monday, Thursday and Saturday of next week. Yesterday morning I got a call from another employee asking me to take his 8 hours on Friday, yes sir! Then got another call at dinner-time from the Assistant Manager asking if I would come in and do the pumpkin decorating event today, yes m'am!
I got there at 9:30am, the event was supposed to be from 10-1pm. We got everything set up and they told me to expect 80-90 people. I was a bit worried. Turned out I got 3. Still it was a fun day and I got to spend it being crafty, helping kids and mostly running around the store bugging all the other employees to help answer questions. I was an obvious target for people with questions because I was in the same place the whole time right in the middle of the store. I even helped the lady who runs the birthday parties with some earring ideas for her client. Awesome.
Tomorrow I have to bring my laptop in to the Apple store. The warranty runs out next month and the fans have been making a ton of noise so I might as well get it fixed now. I hope they don't have to take it for long though. :/
Princess survived her day in the crate, but she shed a lot. Super stress I guess. It was 5 hours so I'm hoping she'll be just as ok on my 8 hour day. I don't think she's figured out the cage's water bottle yet. I can't leave a bowl in with her because she over-turns them immediately. So I got a bottle that attaches to the cage, looks like a hamster water bottle, with a metal ball in the tip of the spout so she has to lick the spout to get water. I don't think she's noticed it at all though.

Ice Ice Princess
Again not much sleep.. I think I need to stay up for like 2 days then I'll be able to sleep. Oh well, cleaning day! I've got it down to about an hour total, which is pretty fast I think even if I have no furniture or dust collecting items.
It's a rainy day so Princess hasn't wanted to go outside much. We likely won't be going on our walk and I was hoping to mow the lawn today. It was supposed to rain all week but didn't until now. :/ The front yard is getting a bit high.
Really hoping my order of beads comes in today so I can make my brother's commissioned necklace & earrings. It's burning a hole in my brain. :) They shipping on Wednesday and it's usually pretty fast, dunno about that fast though. Probably won't get them till Monday.
I'm going to look into some more temp agencies today I think. Hopefully I'll get something! So I found 4 places but I have to go in person on Monday with my applications and resumes. I also have to go buy dress shoes on Monday because I still don't have mine :/
No beads today :/ That sucks.. but I figured. After I cleaned the house this morning I took the trash to the curb for tomorrow's pick up, so I don't forget. When I went to check the mail, I noticed that the can had been moved and opened. It was empty! I guess another company picked up in my neighborhood this morning and grabbed mine too. I hope I don't get a bill and have to fight it.
Princess' new favorite toy: Ice Cubes. I have a dispenser on the freezer and she knows the sound now and expects one everytime I get a glass of water. She looks put out if I don't and I've seen her trying to figure out how to get them herself.
I had Cheerios twice today, the milk is going to go bad on Tuesday and I'll be damned if I'm going to waste it. Still a lot left though.

When FB Games get out of hand
My internet went out last night :( I was in the middle of doing something so I waited for it to come back. So I didn't get much sleep. About 4 1/2 hours.
Some chick had a hissy fit on Facebook Fairyland because I didn't post when I spotted a Rainbow Dragon. Whatever. I spent a ton of gold and time trying to get it, it wasn't her first one, I was tired and took a short nap instead of posting. Even if I had it would have been lost in all the spam her garden is getting right now as people fight over watering. /sad
I got called to go to an interview tomorrow at 4:30pm. It's about an hour away if traffic is good. I don't think I meet all the requirements so it will probably be a waste of time, but whatever, I've got time. The worst they can do is say no, I'm not hiding the fact that I don't know some of the things they want, like "Experience with data analysis, specifically trending and exception reporting are critical. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are necessary including pivot tables, and complex charting, crystal reports and preferably sequel reporting." Probably will be a big deal. Oh well. At least they called me. I'm still a bit nervous, and I don't have any other shoes but sneakers till my husband mails my boxes :/
It's hot and sunny today so I finally went to vacuum the ac filter under the house. After opening up the small doorway and using a stick to kill spiders and wipe away webs, I was standing at the door talking to Princess about not wanting to go in and she ran in. :) The whole time I was down there (more than 20 minutes because I had lots of trouble getting the damn cover back on) Princess was down there with me, exploring. She didn't want to leave. She's such a strange girl :)
Then we went for our walk, didn't really see anyone, waved to the mailman and the cop who lives down the street. Princess saw her first squirrels I think, she's so funny when she's curious, she stands up tall and stiff. I swear her neck is 2 feet long and her big ears stand straight up too..
Tried a new snack, which I accidentally grabbed at the grocery store. I thought I was grabbing Dole's Pear Fruit Cups but grabbed a Dole Creme Parfait Apples & Creme fruit cup instead. I didn't think I'd like it, thought it would be too heavy or sweet and it was pretty sweet but it wasn't heavy. I kinda liked it actually.

Where there's Smoke there's F I R E
My neighbor had been cutting tree branches all day yesterday, which is what he was burning, but last night I guess he cut down some of his big trees completely. I had the windows open at around 7:30pm when I heard a crack and falling tree sound and a thud with a crack. I went outside with Princess to see what was up but it was too dark to see. He had a huge bonfire that night though that got so high he had to hose it down a bit because the ashes were spraying into a nearby tree and falling on his roof. Turns out this morning I see a huge tree fallen onto his wooden fence, totally smashed and he'd built it himself. His poor doggies spent all day tied up to his porch. If I knew them better I'd have offered to let them run around my yard with Princess. She'd have loved the company.
Went to bed around 11, woke up at 7:45am. Chatted with Reina for awhile while I fed Princess and sat with her outside. It smelled like a nice smokey fire all morning, and it was nice, cool and crisp out too. Then I went to the Post Office and to the Grocery store. My last shopping trip was $65 a little more than the $50 I budget per week but it lasted 11 days. This trip was $75 and I'm so pissed I forgot my coupons :/ Hopefully it'll last as long or longer.
Downloaded some music from my very very long list. I wanted 1 or 2 songs per album but had to download the whole thing. Things like Lady Gaga - Paparazzi (stuck in my head right now, especially after watching the video OMG ERIC) Rob Thomas – Diamonds, Kristinia DeBarge – Goodbye, Kelly Clarkson – I do not hookup & Already Gone (also stuck in head), Jordin Sparks – Battlefield, Keri Hilson – Knock you down, The Fray – Never Say Never.. Nice to have some new music finally, I've been playing it all day when I'm not watching a show.
Watched some Law & Order: Criminal Intent, these last few episodes have been better. The finale was pretty darn good. I'm really starting to like & hate Jeff Goldblum in it. His character is so odd, I can't really relate to him, but he's funny so it sort of saves him from outright hatred.
Made Lunch: Ham, Pepperoni, Cheese, Lettuce and Mustard

70 - 6 Thin Slices of Honey Ham
5 - Dollop of Spicy Brown Mustard

Started looking at Tub & Shower styles. Mom wants to replace the tub, shower and tiles in both bathrooms to prepare for selling. Maybe the cabinets and sinks too, with some paint. It'll look nice :) Gotta get measurements then really narrow down the options and call in a guy my dad knows who installed the windows.
Took Princess for her walk, a little girl was following us on her bike a ways. We stopped so Princess could sniff it. Again same route as yesterday so .8 mile.
Got the beads in for the necklace mom commissioned, I had parts of it done so I put most of it together but I need to make a few more of the clover links. Maybe tomorrow, don't want to push my thumb too much. It already looks so elegant, I think she'll love it, I do!
Dinner is Lean Cuisine Swedish Meatballs, 300 calories. The microwave instructions are hard if you don't know how to set your microwave at half power, like me. Hand-me-down's don't come with instructions. Still it's got a good gravy and the meatballs are a nice change from mostly veggie stuff.
I was outside watching Princess play while on the phone with AR when Princess dashed to the fence and stood statue still staring at something. I walked over and the neighbors outdoor cat was laying there staring back at Princess. They did that for about 10 minutes then I grabbed onto Princess' collar and tried to shoo the cat away, it just slinked into the bushes. Princess stood there staring and sniffing for awhile longer then kept trying to crawl into the bushes. I walked over again and held Princess and the cat dashed under the barn. After 20 minutes though I decided that Princess wasn't going to go to the bathroom as long as the cat was there so I brought her inside. I hope the cat doesn't make trespassing a habit! Princess doesn't growl or seem aggressive at all, just really really curious and stiff but when the cat runs, she chases.
The neighbor behind my house, K, has a gorgeous wolf-dog and he was walking her around the block so I waved. Then he came by again with his retriever so I walked over and said hi, and he came down to the fence so I could pet him. The wolf-dog is a girl and she and Princess probably wouldn't get a long, but she happily sniffed at the retriever through the fence. K told me some disappointing news for wolf-dog lovers in California though, they've apparently decided to ban them and if a county worker says your dog is a wolf-dog (wolf looking dogs like Husky, Malamute, Akita are especially vulnerable) you either have to give it up or spend $3000 to get a DNA test to prove it's not. Breed banning is so stupid :( Ban bad OWNERS and get tough on puppy mills and abusers!!
Watched a few episodes of Blood+, I'd never heard of it at all so I didn't know what it was about but I like it. The first few episodes are cheerful & gruesome. I'll probably watch up to episode 10 tonight and then try to get some sleep. Good luck, self.

A little bit of Everything
Still not sleeping well. I went to sleep around 3am I think and woke up at 8am to feed Princes and had a 2 1/2 hour long chat with R. She's going through a lot right now with her family, her Grandfather's health, her "boyfriend"..
I started cleaning the house while I was on the phone with R. Just wiping things down and sweeping, starting the laundry. Things that wouldn't be too loud because the connection on our phone calls is usually bad enough, plus it's been really windy on Guam and she talks to me while she's outside.
Vampire Diaries, episode 1x02. Still not sure if this will be another silly teen drama + Vampires. I don't hate it yet, but it is sliding towards too cheesy.
Called Michael's. I had my interview 2 weeks ago, I already bought 2 sets of work clothes and was just waiting to hear back on the background check. I spoke to the Assistant Manager who had interviewed me and she said that they've had to scale back hours for everyone and that she'd call me some time next week if she can schedule me some hours for the week after. :/ At least she said my background check went through ok.
Bones, episode 5x01, season premiere! Cyndi Lauper as a psychic :) I'd worry about spoiling that little tidbit but it's the first 5 seconds of the show. Not a bad premiere episode. I "liked" the crime and Cyndi Laupers character.
Finally got my order of Samhain 2009 Scent from Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs that I ordered a month ago. Love the scent, wasn't quite impressed with the purchasing & receiving experience. A week ago I tried to find out where my order was through the CCNow tracking number but it came back saying there was no such order yet the money had been taken out of my account, very confusing and I'm sure the system wastes a lot of their time answering emails like the one I sent them asking WTF? It took them 4 days to answer that email too, letting me know they would be shipping it out soon.
Walked Princess, according to google directions we walked a total of .8 mile. My neighbor was burning some tree branches in his front yard so I stopped to talk to him and his little daughter wanted to pet Princess. I told her to hold out her hand and let Princess sniff it, which she did but then she backed away and wouldn't come any closer. Same thing when my neighbor tried to pet her. She's a bit skittish around cars and apparently other people, or it could have been the proximity to the fire that was bothering her.. clogging up her ability to smell "nice people".
Watched more of last seasons (8) Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Not really impressed with these episodes, but I want to catch up and get them off my hard drive before all the other shows start up next week.
Mowed the backyard, such a gorgeous day. Slightly on the warm side but so breezy that with the windows open the house is pretty cool. Around 77-80 degrees outside, sunny and bright with a nice breeze, perfect weather actually. Nice timing too because I just got my electric bill and /sigh gonna have to keep the AC off as much as I can. It's turning out to be a nice golden fall sunset too, I already see the glow on the freshly mowed grass. :) Tonight's a new moon!
Made dinner: 2 Oscar Mayer hot dogs which I've decided I do not like plain, too salty for my non-smoking, dieting taste buds, on low-cal bread with low-cal cheese, bit of onion and mustard. Yumm!

My mom commissioned a necklace for my Grandmother's birthday to match the earrings & bracelet she and my brother bought from me already for her. I'm waiting on an order of Fancy Jasper rounds and gold chain to complete it. It'll be quite fancy I think, at least in my head. :) I've used some hand-jigged gold tone 20 gauge wire clovers as links. Stay tuned for pics on my flickr &/or Facebook in a few days.

Another Week
I went to the Orthopedist on Tuesday morning. First of all when I got there, the rather rude receptionist (RRR) informed me that my appointment was at 8am. I said that there's no way I made an appointment at 8am. I feed Princess and let her out at 8am. She just rolled her eyes. Anyway, I didn't actually have an appointment with the doctor but his assistant. She said there's a cyst (more like a callous) forming on the major joint and told me that the surgery would cost $1k for them, plus the anesthesiologist, plus the hospital fee, plus the pre and post-surgery appointments. It'll add up, the appointment on Tuesday cost $110 :/ As much as my first appointment in NH cost and that included a cortizone shot. I did meet the doctor, he came in to asses me for surgery. He said that he's not terribly worried about the cyst at this point, that if I have to hold off on the surgery for awhile then he sees no problem with that. So they gave me a small splint that I have to wear every night for the next 6 weeks then go back to get checked up. Or I can book the surgery.
I grabbed a bunch of anime now that I'm out of tv to catch up on. I grabbed Cowboy Bebop & Blood+, I still have Sexy Commando, Code Geass & my friend gave me Samurai Champloo. More shows start up next week, Heroes, House, Big Bang Theory, Castle, Criminal Minds, Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, Mentalist, Flashpoint, Numb3rs.. wow that's a lot. So You Think You Can Dance Canada is down to 12 people next week, I'm not sure who got eliminated this week, I haven't gotten the results show yet :( The routines this week were so good! The guest judge this week was Karen Kain, I'd never heard of her before but she just seems to define CLASS, her comments about hip hop and stuff were cute. So You Think You Can Dance USA is still in auditions. Bones started up last night, though I haven't watched the episode yet, probably tonight. America's next top model is down to 12 I think, my favorites left are Jennifer, Nicole, Sundai, Ashley, and Lulu.
I've been playing Guild Wars a bit too. I joined a nice guild to try to learn more about the higher end game. I've been so frustrated that I want to finish the story lines but I'm at the max level and I've been failing missions with the npc henchmen. There's so many high level armor and weapons that I need to learn about getting. Everyone seems great so far!
I haven't heard back from Michael's yet, it's been 2 weeks since my interview. I need to call them today and check up on it, but it's saddening that they didn't call me themselves. :/ That's bad enough, but I applied online for Geico's call center and I have some call center experience, Geico is always advertising on the radio and billboards that they're hiring when no one else is, they have great training so no experience is needed.. I got an email the next day saying that I was not selected. :/ :/ :/ Come on!!!
I've got some chores to run, then house cleaning and Princess playing today. Feeling a little sniffly with all the rain lately.

Oh why do you forsake me Hersheys?
Yesterday I got a notice from the website where I list my jewelry for sale, Etsy.com, apparently they got a notice from a lawyer for Hershey's that one of my jewelry pieces was violating copyright and they had to take it down. So I checked which one it was and it was a piece I named Jolly Ranchers.. because the beads look like Jolly Ranchers. /sigh So I renamed it and put it back up, but Hershey's? that really hurts my soul.. Especially after the milk chocolate incident.
Yesterday after taking Princess for a walk, I went out to buy khaki pants and black polo shirts, which is the uniform for Michaels. I went to target and didn't really find much, it took me forever to find 2 pairs of each that fit decently but I'm not really happy with them. I ended up going to the men's section for the polo shirts because I hated the sleeves on the few girls polo shirts I found. The two I bought were on clearance even.
Then I went to Michaels to get some supplies because I'd made a gold necklace but didn't have any gold clasps. I don't use gold much. Kinda on a gold & brass kick lately, must be the time of year. :)
Then I went to the grocery store, always fun. Then I went outside to play with Princess, she's go so much energy and has been getting a little bratty stuck in the house with the rain. I noticed the backyard grass was ready to mow so I did.. Still having to mow once a week, hopefully it'll start slowing down soon. The front yard doesn't seem to grow as fast, which is awesome.
I finished up watching CSI, Mental and The Listener. All ended up being great seasons, I finally got into Mental. I had watched the pilot and didn't really care for it, but it finally grew on me, too bad it's cancelled. :/ The Listener was really good, surprisingly so. My only complaint is that everyone on the show will know about his abilities if he keeps up the rate he's been telling them. :)
Now I've been watching Heroes. I don't know why people were complaining so much about it post season 1. Season 2 was a bit slow but 3 has been awesome so far. /shrug
So You Think You Can Dance premiered it's 6th and first fall season yesterday which I can't wait to watch. America's Next Top Model premiered it's 13th and first all short girls season yesterday as well. Today we get Supernatural back for season 5!! (yay Dean). And a new show starts that I wanted to check out, just in case, called The Vampire Diaries. Has about a 90% chance of being teeny boppery and corny but we'll see.

What a day, What to Say..
First of all, I got the job. It's part time only, unless people quit I'll only be getting anywhere between 4-30 hours a week. They have to do a background check on me and that could take a week or two so I don't actually know when I start, or how much I'll make an hour actually. I forgot to ask. :/ I was too nervous. So the good news is that I have work coming, but the bad news is, I'll still need to find another part time job.
It's been a busy few days with Princess here. I've had to hand feed her because she eats too fast thinking she has to get as much as she can before someone else gets it and might get stomach bloating. We've gone on walks around the neighborhood, she's now discovered that she really really likes being indoors, I have to beg her to go outside now. She's sleeping in the bedroom on the floor next to me now so her fear of the carpet seems to have gone. We went out to the backyard to play a bit this morning and I saw a big black snake near the deck, it had it's head raised out of the grass which is pretty tall right now in the area around the deck because I don't have a weed-whacker to cut it. Princess dashed towards it and it slithered under the deck. Of course now I'm paranoid that I'll accidentally step on or near it, or that it's under the house in the crawl space when I have to go under there next week to vacuum the air conditioner filter. :/ I'm gonna call the exterminator guy we use and see if he can do anything. I hate snakes.. haaaaaaate.
I didn't put Princess in her crate last night. I was up late and I don't crate her until I go to sleep because I think that's just mean that I get to stay up and play and she doesn't. Plus she was perfect when I went out running errands yesterday so I figured I'd give it a shot. She was great. I don't think she touched anything and she seems pretty clear on only peeing outside anyway. She's already ripped open her plush hedgehog squeaky toy, it no longer squeaks. She still loves it though so I'll take the squeaker out and stitch the little bugger up. She dragged the pillow I put in the crate for her out today and started chewing on it, but she reacts quickly to stern words. Almost makes me feel bad to say NO because she cowers, but then she rolls over and wants belly rubs. :)
I clean the house every weekend but since I had nothing else to do after my interview yesterday, I got started early. Princess did not like the washing machine while it was running and kept running over to it with her head cocked to the side. Then while I was sweeping the floor she was bouncing around in front of me trying to chase it. She's too cute sometimes, just a big baby goofball!
I'm about halfway done with my newest bracelet. I spent a long time adapting the pattern from a metal ring I saw and picking the colors from my stash. I knew I wanted to use a gorgeous metallic amber color I have, but I first matched it with a bright metallic cranberry which just got lost with the amber. It's subtle, reminds me of looking at something with black light that's only faintly glowing. I may still finish it with those colors but I started over with a bright metallic navy blue instead and it's much more pleasing to me. Not quite the fall-autumny pattern I've been toying with in my head, but I haven't figured that one out yet. I'm still slowly working on adding descriptions and bits to my Etsy.com store, but inspiration takes time. :)
Got 2 more bills coming up next week, thankfully both are small. Still, it's really starting to add up.
I've been having a hard time getting my brain to stop thinking lately. It just goes on and on, around and around. Every detail about every aspect of my life and I wish it would just shut up. For 5 minutes. I've been trying to drown it out with catching up on tv, playing with Princess, making jewelry.. nothing is working, not as well as good long phone chats with friends does. Those are few though.
A couple of shows start their fall season next week, and I am pretty much caught up on the major ones I think. Since my last post about it, I've finished off Chuck, CSI: NY, Criminal Minds, America's Next Top Model, Flashpoint, Family Guy, Secret Diary of A Call Girl, Supernatural, and Law & Order: SVU. Now I'm watching the last few episodes of House, then the rest of The Listener. I'm missing a few episodes of the last season of Canada's Next Top Model but that doesn't start again until next spring I think, so I've got time.
I almost didn't watch ANTM's last season, reality shows are hit or miss once they've ended. You can get spoiled on it so easy. I enjoyed the last season though, I thought they had some great shoot ideas and really had some teaching lessons that seemed really useful. The next season is supposed to be the much talked about short-girl season that caused a huge scene at one of the auditions.
Flashpoint had a really cool guest star in one episode. Peter Outerbridge, who played the Chief Scientist, David Sandstrom, on the show ReGenesis. I've seen a few other cast members in other shows lately too. Mayko Nguyen who played a Bioinformatics Researcher, Mayko Tran, was on an episode of The Listener. Greg Byrk, who played the Executive Directors Assistant then the Executive Director, Weston Field, on ReGenesis was on the first episode of The Listener and is scheduled to appear on Flashpoint soon. He played what was probably my second favorite character, next to Carlos Serrano, played by Conrad Pla.
The Listener has been a pretty good show though I haven't found any information on when the second season will air. Another face I recognized guest starring was Sebastian Pigott who was a contestant on Canadian Idol Season 6 along with his brother, Oliver.

First Week
First week on the diet, it's always the hardest but I've been ok. I'm naturally a saver so I just thought of the food as money. Today I went grocery shopping even though I wanted to wait until tomorrow. It's been storming all day so I couldn't mow the lawn, if it happens to dry out tomorrow I'll be doing that instead. I love thunderstorms. I ended up spending more than I'd planned for but not by too much. It happens, most of the stuff will last through next week probably. I'll just have to be more cautious.
First week of quitting smoking, it's always the hardest and the cravings have been brutal. I just refused to go buy any, and having quit 3 years ago after smoking for 12 years, I knew what to expect.
I picked up a Green & Black's Organic Bittersweet Dark 60% Chocolate with Crystallized Ginger Pieces. I tried their Mayan Gold bar last week which was Dark Chocolate With Orange and Spices. Not quite the Mayan Chocolate I wanted but was still very good for Orange Chocolate. I've only had 2 small squares of the Ginger bar so far, they're about 17 calories each, and it's pretty good if you let it melt. You don't get very much of the ginger flavor if you chew it. Then it's all crystallized texture.
I've been watching a new show that I've wanted to check out for awhile. The Unusuals, it stars Amber Tamblyn who is a favorite for my husband and I from her show Joan of Arcadia. I also followed her, Alexis Bledel, Blake Lively and America Ferrera in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The show is pretty funny, the tape delay they used on a suspect was outrageously funny. Odd things happen, like a buck shot imprint of Jesus on the wall. The dispatch narration is hilarious, each character has quirks and mysteries to figure out, all swirling around each other, not really connected which feels more real than having them all tie together.

Sixth Night
Sleep came easier last night, though I suppose that was due to the lack of sleep the night before and/or the hysterical hour.. I woke several times and it didn't seem very restful. Still I slept with the light off in the bedroom, but light on in the hallway so I guess I count that as more progress.
I finished the second Dune book that my husband let me borrow, Messiah. I keep track of my books on facebook through the visual bookshelf app but the review I wrote there said: 3.5 stars
I also got caught up on the Tudors last night, Season 3. Mostly this season dealt with Jane Seymour but the last few episodes were about Anne Of Cleves. I'm a bit disappointed that Anne was only a couple of episodes but she was only Queen for a few months. Next up, Catherine Howard, who is the star of the first book I read by Philippa Gregory, The Boleyn Inheritance. I'm currently reading her first of the Tudor series, The Constant Princess, which is about Catherine of Aragon. I'm such a royal geek :)
I also cleaned out the house, top to bottom. Even though I'm only using 2 of the rooms plus the bathrooms I cleaned them all. They were pretty clean to begin with, the last tenant had a maid service come just before I moved in, but there's always moving dust, the bug spray from the exterminator and it just felt good to do. I still need a vacuum to properly clean the bedrooms but I used the dust buster to pick up what I could see.
The earrings I made today I based off the earrings I saw on the Young & the Restless today. I named them Baroque Ambrosia. 2 <3's if you can tell me why :)
I got to talk to my friend, AR, for a few minutes today. Since her apartment was burgled she's been without a computer and rarely home for me to call her. We had a decent but short chat and I miss her a lot. Good wishes for her internship which she says will begin after Labor Day.
I've been applying online to as many nearby stores as I could think of before I head out on foot. Aside from all the secretary jobs that I applied for while still in NH, I also applied to a dozen more through monster.com this week, and then started on places like: Michaels, Staples, Bed/Bath & Beyond, Gamestop, Borders, Target, Dress Barn, Sherwin Williams, Radio Shack, Walmart, Payless and CVS. I'm wracking my brain and google to come up with more but I'm stuck. If you can think of anywhere else I should apply, I need to make at least $12 per hour, hopefully more if I can or I'll possibly end up getting a part-time job as well, please let me know.

I've been scouring the mail and free paper for coupons, but with my diet I don't expect to spend much on food at all, just the extra things like soaps, etc.

Second Night
BIG HUGE *HUGS* and CONGRATULATIONS to my sister & brother-in-law on their new baby. It's a girl! Happy Birthday little girl! I shall call this the year of the X chromosome :) 4 total this year so far and there's one more baby on the way! Though I don't think that baby is technically due this year. I still feel it will also be a girl :)
I've been sleeping like crap.. It's too quiet here. Even if I leave on music, it's not the same. I wanted to wake up early and get some errands done then go job hunting but I woke up late. Still I got the DMV done, 2 hours and $80 to get my license, car registration & title changed. I have to wait 2 weeks for the real copies of each but I got the new plates right away. I went home and tried to put the new plates on. The front one was easy and I got one of the screws off on the back but could not get the second no matter what I tried. I'd just taken the plates off in March to put on the NH ones and had no trouble, but somehow it was stuck. So I decided to take it in for the inspection today rather than tomorrow and get the guy to do it for me. He obliged me and everything for the car is done until next month when I have to renew the registration, but I can do that online. I had a coupon book for a free inspection but only $5 off on the emissions so I had to pay $25. Still it's done.

I didn't get out to throw around my resume. By the time I was done with the bank it was 4pm. Rush hour around here so I decided to do it tomorrow as I had also not eaten at all.
Saturday night I got caught up on one of my favorite shows, Bones. There was quite a few episodes but I was bored and lonely anyway. I didn't really take to Bones right away, I didn't take to David Boreanaz as an FBI agent. Eventually though I grew to like the relationship between him and Emily Deschanel and the rest of the cast.
Sunday night I got caught up on The Mentalist. Another favorite show. Simon Baker is very good, though I still am not quite sure about Robin Tunney. She seems quite out of place for me but the character is good. <3 <3 Cho (Tim Kang) especially in the season finale when he's refusing the offer of the mailbox lady's niece.
Tonight I'm catching up on Lie To Me. Originally it bothered me that the reactions were over-pronounced in the acting. It's gotten better in the later episodes and I adore how they compare it to real world photos. I've always been fascinated by facial & body language reading.
Trying to stay sane.. will update any changes.
I've been sleeping like crap.. It's too quiet here. Even if I leave on music, it's not the same. I wanted to wake up early and get some errands done then go job hunting but I woke up late. Still I got the DMV done, 2 hours and $80 to get my license, car registration & title changed. I have to wait 2 weeks for the real copies of each but I got the new plates right away. I went home and tried to put the new plates on. The front one was easy and I got one of the screws off on the back but could not get the second no matter what I tried. I'd just taken the plates off in March to put on the NH ones and had no trouble, but somehow it was stuck. So I decided to take it in for the inspection today rather than tomorrow and get the guy to do it for me. He obliged me and everything for the car is done until next month when I have to renew the registration, but I can do that online. I had a coupon book for a free inspection but only $5 off on the emissions so I had to pay $25. Still it's done.

32 Hours
32 hours to go before we make the trek to Virginia. Tomorrow will be a crazy day of getting the trailer, finishing up last minute tasks & phone calls, and double checking that everything is packed and loaded. I've been crunching numbers and it looks like if I can find a decent job ($12+ per hour/40 hours a week) I should be ok.
I also plan to get more serious about selling my jewelry. I've had no bites so far at all. I have yet to decide if I'll continue through etsy.com which has a $0.20 listing fee and 3.5% sales fee, or if I'll switch to artfire.com which offers a basic account for free, no listing or sales fees. You can pay $12 per month to get a premium account You can see the difference here: I don't think it's wise to list the same jewelry on different sites though so I'll have to choose.
I'll miss the gorgeous scenery and lack of traffic here in NH but I need income options. Never got a chance to go check out the walking trails near here or the waterfall, or take photos of the river.

4 little monkeys jumping on the bed..
4 days to go, 4 very busy days..
Things to do as time allows:
1. Find other inflatable mattress
2. Hang mom's instruments
3. Finish stacking the wood, about 4-5 loads left
4. Finish building the new pantry, waiting on a replacement piece
5. Call and transfer mom's last retirement money
6. Call and order Internet & Phone for Virginia (tried 4 times already but the tenant there now hasn't called to cancel his and they can't make my account until he does or we fax in the house deed and stuff. I spoke to the tenant at his work today and he said he was going to call as soon as we hung up but he didn't)
7. Paint mom's wall that was ripped out to fix the wiring
8. Clean out the jeep
9. confirm trailer location
10. set up the dvd player in the living room
11. change water filters
None of those are especially hard, except the wood, I've finished 17 other things from the list in the last 2 weeks. Finding the time in between long days out for mom's doctor appointments, grocery shopping, getting my new glasses, meetings with both the old and new contractor, going out for lunch, making dinner, cleaning up the house (has to be vacuumed at least every other day with all of Woofie's fur), trips to the dump, pharmacy and post-office, mowing and weedwhacking the yard (much of the yard has giant rocks and hills you can't mow around), packing up my stuff and the stuff mom is letting me take, internet going down every time it rains (which it's done very often for the last 2 months), helping mom when she has trouble or gets frustrated with what she's doing.. there's more but I think you get the idea.
Tomorrow, my brother has an appointment with the local college to talk about enrolling options. We're also going to lunch so it'll be a good 4 hours at least, then we might run some errands but basically most of the day will be used, but I'll be calling comcast again, and a few other places about orders. Then dinner will probably take awhile to make, I swear mom and G are trying to get me to cook all the complicated dinners before I go.
Wednesday we're meeting with the new contractor to discuss his rough estimates and plans. Eve though we're not fully sure his prices will be within range, at least he's keeping us fully informed of what he's doing and seems reliable. ++ Then we're probably going out to Home Depot to pick up the generator depending on what the contractor says about installing it, and likely grabbing dinner out. Again, at least 4-5 hours for all of that. Need to make a trip to the dump as well.
Thursday we're meeting with the aide from the home care company that may be working with mom. Then crossing my fingers about calling U-Haul about the trailer, and making arrangements. Final packing check.
Friday, we're driving the jeep to the airport to leave it there for when mom and G fly home from Virginia, then hopefully picking up the trailer and packing it.
Saturday, dropping off the puppies at 8am and heading down to Virginia.

Rent a Brain
Busy busy, 8 days left to go, still so much to do. Thanks be to U-Haul for being totally useless. 7 years ago when I moved to Toronto we'd booked a trailer a month in advance and when the time came, no one anywhere near me had one available. The same may happen for this move. We won't know until 24 hours in advance. Why can't their reservation system let people enter their return date and location so that U-Haul can estimate what equipment will be where? I know things will still turn up late, but still at least there'd be the chance of knowing if you've got a shot. Not that there's much choice. I wracked 4 brains trying to find another company that rents trailers for one way moves, no such luck. If things go badly we may end up getting a rental van or something instead even though mom already paid to get a hitch installed on my brother's car. *sigh*
Then I called the local electric company in Virginia and that's all set up to go. Then I called Comcast after learning that the deal on the website has tiny print saying that you only get the special price for the first 6 months IF you also get another service at the regular price. Tricky tricky. But I'm looking to get internet and phone anyway so the possible costs per month would be better getting them through Comcast together than getting say Comcast internet and Vonage phone. I was all set to sign myself up, but then learned that they could not create my account until the tenant called in to set up a cancel date. So mom sent him an email asking him to call Comcast. We haven't heard from the tenant since before we got confirmation that he received the certified letter from mom. Dunno what's going to happen when we get there.
*Giant hugs* for my friends, R & N, whose grandfathers are still in the hospital :( More *hugs* for R, because her family there are acting like children.

Everything was taken, the TV, PS3, the computer my husband and I bought her 2 years ago including the web cam and headphones we got her last year, the external hard-drive I sent her in April, her engagement ring, and I'm sure lots of other things. :( I was robbed when I lived in Georgia back in 2000, but at least I found comfort that they were stupid fucks and by ripping things out of the walls, they broke most of the cables. I hope these bastards at least pulled some muscles!!! :<

I'm shocked that you're strutting..
Woke up at 6:30am to get my brother's car down to the mechanic for 8am. It needed an oil change and we wanted the mechanic to check the shocks and tell us if it could pull a trailer if we got a hitch installed. The manual says that it can take a class 2 hitch but I wasn't sure if it was in good enough condition. We went to breakfast then drove back because it was on the way home and the call forwarding we tried to set before leaving wasn't working so we'd have to go all the way home to get the message then drive all the way back.
The mechanic said that the car actually takes struts and if we wanted to replace them it would cost $400 but that they were in decent condition. So we told him we'd get them later if he thought they'd survive the trip to VA. He said they would and also that the hitch would be $550 to install. So we declined on both and went home, I spent the next hour looking up hitch prices, comparing to truck rental prices, with or without a car dolly and presented all the info to my parents.
Then we drove to my eye exam appointment. My glasses have been bent out of shape several times since I've been here and I didn't think they'd last much longer so mom decided to buy me new ones. The appointment went well, no issues, only a slight change on my prescription from 2 years ago. The doctor put several drops in and I was having a real hard time seeing afterwards. When it came time to pick the lens type and frames the girl was obviously new and trying to hard sell the expensive lenses. I was trying to ask mom what she thought because she was paying for them, but the girl kept cutting me off and telling me how great an investment they were. Mom got fed up and berated the girl, then my brother chimed in and we left.
After lunch we found a Lenscrafters half an hour from there (1 1/2 hours from the house) so we drove over and picked out some decent frames. They were having a sale on frames, $100 off, so that was ok, the frames I picked were $140. Mom chose the featherweight lenses, which were $190 but didn't have the anti-glare coating that my old ones did so it's taking some getting used to, but at least I have a non-broken pair. Lenscrafters also had a lab in the store so the glasses were ready in an hour and a half.
If the old ones had broken while I was in VA I'd have to drive to the eye place with hopefully patched enough glasses to see and then wait up to 10 business days for them. Not a pleasant thing to do, not by myself.
Mom and Dad decided tonight to get the hitch installed and book the trailer, so I'll be doing that tomorrow after the 8am meeting with the garage contractor. The weather today was supposed to be massive rains so we'd planned on doing inside chores but it ended up being a super bright, hot, muggy, foggy day but we were out for more than half of it. Dunno what else we'll have to do tomorrow but I've still got a huge list of things to get done before my move.
Thanks to my friend, C, for helping me test out the call forwarding before I left for my eye appointment today. Since we don't get cell service at all up here, we had no way to check ourselves. By the time we get down to town and have service it's too late to fix it if it doesn't work. It worked great! Definately a great feature to have out here in the sticks when it takes at least 2 hours to get anywhere and back.

Seeing Double Trouble

Been such a busy time lately getting ready for my move. So much work to do, such a long list of chores to finish also dealing with the garage contractor and the new one I found. 12 1/2 more days to go.
My glasses are so bent and broken that it's been giving me a headache lately. I really don't want to use my birthday money to get new ones, since I'll have to live on that in Virginia until I find a job.
That's about all I have time for right now. So tired.

Lowe blow
Went to sleep at 2am, woke up at 8am, took the dogs to the groomers a mile down the road. Went home picked up mom and the lawnmower then drove an hour to the Lowe's where we bought it. I had called them on Sunday and asked about getting it fixed, the girl I spoke to asked me if we'd purchased the extended warranty and I said no. She said to just bring it in and that I wouldn't need an appointment. However when we got there, I went inside to the customer service desk and the girl called another girl, Becky, and said she was about to do a return on a lawnmower. I said we didn't want to return it, just repair it.
When Becky came up to talk to me, she asked me about the warranty and when I told her we didn't have the extended plan she said they only service things on the extended warranty unless it was within 30 days of purchase. We bought it May 21st but had only used it maybe 3 or 4 times. I told her what the girl on the phone had told me and she said "oh I know who that must have been", shook her head and said "she was wrong, I'll have to speak to her about that." Then she said we should go get the mower out of the car. After we got it, she took the receipt and went to talk to her manager. He came out and said there was nothing they could do for us. I explained that we had been told to bring it in and that we live an hour away. So he went back inside and when he came back he said they could either send it out for us, which would take at least a week plus whatever time was needed to fix it and send back, or they would exchange it. So we got it exchanged. Since I hadn't planned on needing to exchange it I hadn't brought all the parts like the bagger, so I told him he could take the new one out. After he helped me load the new one into the car I went and parked and I guess they thought we left because when mom and I went back inside to look for a bulb we needed they were all standing around bitching about us. I dunno if they even saw us, but it made me giggle anyway.
They didn't have the bulb we needed, so we went to Walmart and they didn't have it, same with Home Depot but then we had to get home to pick up the dogs so we stopped to get drinks from Starbucks and drove home. Picked up the dogs and then my brother G went to town to get a haircut and check the mail. While he was gone the delivery of the wooden swing seat and adirondack chairs came. Finally got to take a shower and mom wanted to go to Concord to eat and pick up dog food from Petco.
She wanted me to sign her up for the Petco discount card and the cashier told us that if we purchased 200 pounds of dog food we would get 10% off, we already had 120 pounds so G went to get 2 1/2 more bags. 6 big bags of dog food and one small bag.
After that we went to Ruby Tuesday, I got a half rack of ribs and a salad bar. Mom and G got the salad bar and southwest spring-roll appetizer. We all got ice cream & strawberries on a pastry for dessert.
Busy but not a bad day. Now the rain has knocked out the internet and may be out for awhile. :/ But I wrote this up offline and will post it when it comes back up.

Dizzy Day
Not a bad weekend over all just really really busy with chores and stuff.. Still very little sleep. Mom is slowly getting stronger, eating more, walking around more, going out more..
Today was all about yard work, thankfully I'm not sore or anything yet, just exhausted. Still so much more to do. I was getting really dizzy this morning though, odd for me, not just a few seconds of discomfort, but full on everything went dark and my head spun and had to sit down for awhile to clear it, kind of dizziness. :/ Thumb has been ok today though so I guess I can't complain :)

Wood
I'm not sure how mom was last night, I passed out around midnight and was dead to the world until 5am, then went back to sleep till 10am. This morning she was still complaining of stomach pain but she hadn't thrown up since she started the zantac so that's great. She decided she wanted to go out for lunch and she felt up to it so we went to Friendly's. She managed to eat a good amount of her clam basket and had most of an ice cream sundae as well.
She started to get tired by the end of the meal but still wanted to go pick out her swing seat that the family got her for her birthday. We stopped at a store that sells all types of handmade wood furniture and she picked out a nice birch swing, which happened to be their only one in stock at the time, and also picked up 2 adirondack chairs with foot rests for the porch, 1 end table, a media cabinet for the living room, which she wanted stained, and 2 special order adirondack chair cushions. They had lots of nice stuff, it made me want to pick up a bench for the porch in Virginia. Mom said she might be willing to provide that.
Mom took a little nap once we got home and it's so hot and humid here today that we all were a bit wiped out. I ended up having a really great conversation with my husband too, really cheered me up but also gave me a lot to think about.
While I was making dinner mom tried to scan a piece of mail that came for my brother D, she had trouble with it and got really upset and beating herself up for being stupid and kept saying she doesn't have a brain anymore, what good is she. I tried to do it and it seems like the software wasn't installed or something is wrong with it so I tried telling her that we'd need to look at the manual and it doesn't mean she's stupid. This printer has been a bit difficult with other things. She wouldn't hear it, she kept crying and blaming herself. *sigh*
I hope she'll be able to sleep tonight and be stronger in tomorrow. We've got the garage contractor coming over to discuss everything and hopefully start planning out a date to start this thing finally. The whole thing won't be done this year, we're hoping to just get the ground dug out, leveled and cleared, then get the concrete laid for the floor. Then we can get the generator installed, get the new 500 gallon propane tank placed, get the electrician to hook those up to the house and get a car-turn-around laid on one side of the foundation with the same ledge pack we got for the driveway.
After that, if she's still up for it, she wants to go to lunch and maybe go to Staples to get a new mouse for her laptop. G and I also have to make a trip to the dump and clean the house up really well because we've been having ants lately. I also still have a lot of bigger chores to get to before I leave here but it keeps raining or we end up dealing with mom or out all day.
She started to get tired by the end of the meal but still wanted to go pick out her swing seat that the family got her for her birthday. We stopped at a store that sells all types of handmade wood furniture and she picked out a nice birch swing, which happened to be their only one in stock at the time, and also picked up 2 adirondack chairs with foot rests for the porch, 1 end table, a media cabinet for the living room, which she wanted stained, and 2 special order adirondack chair cushions.
